A National Association
of Dance Companies

Through Regional Dance America membership, pre-professional companies and performing ensembles access quality dance training and performance opportunities regardless of geographic boundaries. Young dancers are connected to over $10.5 million+ in program scholarships and recruitment offers and choreographers thrive in enriching settings with all resources necessary to grow and develop into regional, national and international stature.

“With the popularity of dance competitions, it can be challenging for studio owners to find noncompetitive performance opportunities for their students. Likewise, for studios far away from dance hotspots like New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago, the dancers’ exposure to the arts and other dancers outside of their home studios might be few and far between. Enter Regional Dance America, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to decentralizing dance and educating the next generation of dancers, no matter their geographical location.” READ MORE

NATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY INTENSIVE

First held as The Summer Choreography Conference, RDA’s National Choreography Intensive was developed in 1961 under the guidance of Josephine Schwarz, artistic director of Dayton Civic Ballet. Over the years, national interest and funding from the NEA and other sources have brought great success to the conference. The intensive is a unique experience for dancers and choreographers.

For dancers, daily master classes enrich training in many genres of dance while afternoon work with new choreographers provides depth and understanding for nightly performance showcases. For choreographers, daily exploration of choreography concepts with NCI’s Directors of Choreography and Music followed by afternoon choreography rehearsals filled with dancers, space, and time enables choreographers to hone their craft and develop their choreographic voice.
